1896 Stock Certificate |
| This is a VERY rare capital stock certificate (#7) that was
issued shortly after the brewery was incorporated in 1896. The stock is dated February 6th
1896 and issued to Joseph Marx 100 shares at $10.00 per share. The initial Capital stock
offering was $40,000, so this represented 1/40th of the company at the time. Joseph was
one of the Marx brothers and can be seen in a photo on Page 299 of Peter Blum's
"Brewed in Detroit" book. The certificate is also signed by Frank Marx
(President) and Theo. Hoersch (Treasurer). |

1896 Stock Certificate Back |
| The back of the certificate is also filled out and indicates
that Joseph sold the shares back to Frank on the 23rd of May, 1896. There is no indication
what the selling price was, but hopefully he made a profit! |
